STOP-BANG Questionnaire
The STOP-BANG Questionnaire is a validated screening tool used to estimate your risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It consists of eight simple yes-or-no questions based on common symptoms and risk factors associated with sleep apnea.
While this questionnaire cannot diagnose obstructive sleep apnea, it can help identify whether additional evaluation by a healthcare provider or sleep specialist may be appropriate.
Instructions
Please answer each question honestly based on your current health and sleep habits.
- Answer Yes or No for every question.
- Complete all eight questions before submitting.
- Your results will be calculated automatically.
- Your score will classify your risk as Low, Intermediate, or High for obstructive sleep apnea.
About Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops or becomes shallow during sleep due to blockage of the upper airway. Untreated sleep apnea may contribute to:
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Loud snoring
- Morning headaches
- Difficulty concentrating
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Type 2 diabetes
Early identification can help guide discussions with your healthcare provider about whether additional testing, such as a sleep study, may be appropriate.
